This is a fairly current song that I've been enjoying lately:

(It even has trikes, Paul!)

Here's craziness from the past (we were just babies then) for your Super Bowl Sunday:

Good morning.

I noticed the obituary for Mrs (June) Orme in this morning's Salt Lake Tribune, passing away at 101 years old. As I recall I had her for first period English and as my teacher she worked hard and gave personal attention whenever I asked.  I also recollect Talitha Workman was assigned to keep the roll and note tardiness and that at times I recieved the benefit or Talitha's watch being a bit behind.

I want to say thanks to all that worked on the past reunion. It was a great time and very well done.

Take care,

Ray

I had Mrs Orme for English as well - a classy lady that was not easy, as I remember, but always fair and willing to give personal attention and help (as Ray indicated).  Reading her obituary, she demonstrated a great example for a fulfilling, healthy and happy life.

Thank you Ray for posting this about Mrs. Orme, and Randall for the link to her obituary.  It was a beautiful obituary.  She must have lived very near to where we do but I never knew it.  The ward where her funeral services will be is in the same building where we attend church.  I'm sorry I didn't know she was so near.

As people have said she was a very caring individual and I remember she encouraged me in my writing.  Wasn't she connected with the Scribe?  Mrs. Orme was a wonderful example as a teacher and person.

This is a neat and true story about a woman and her love of old cars. She will not buy a new car until she has worn her old one out and it is still in new condition. After all, it is only 84 years old (the car that is, oh the lady...she’s 101). What a pleasant and spry lady she is!

This lady’s car is a 1930 Packard. Take notice in the video that she lays a shop rag on the running board to step onto when she gets in and out of the car.

Then after she is in the car, she leans all the way down to the running-board to get the rag.

She is in great physical and mental shape for her age. The car is not bad either!

Click on the link below to view this beautiful car and listen to this wonderful, seemingly ageless lady.

This song has always made me smile. I'm glad the band is still out there preforming it.

I believe this fellow graduated with us.  We had some fun around the circle and attended several concerts.  I recall between Junior and Senior year a bunch of us piling into his old black Rambler to ride to the Credence Clearwater Revival concert at the Salt Palace, the first at that venue.  After the concert we rode up to Neff's Canyon to party and campout overnight.

I hadn't seen him since high school but the dates all match.  Perhaps Buzz knows for sure if this is our Steve Jolley.

How fun, Paul!  It would be fun to watch but sad not to have the sound for the band. I remember that day well,  and certainly Steve Jolley as well since he attended from Elementary with us.  I wonder if this is him?

I believe this Steve Jolly is "our" Steve.  I remember him at Forest Elementary School.  He lived close to me between 10th East and 11th East on the north side of 2700 South.  The parental names mentioned ring a familiar bell which makes me believe this is the Steve we knew.  I didn't know his siblings so I can't make a match there but I do remember the parents names.  (And that is totally amazing!!!)

It is funny and wierd.  I was thinking of him a week or so ago in one of my Whatever-happened-to-thatguy moods that pop into my mind out of the clear blue from time to time.

DeGraw, I am still here! Been enjoying all the 'posts'. Especially Char's with Debbie Reynolds as the bouncing football. Hope everyone is doing well and surviving the winter. Sad to hear of classmates passing, it does put everything into perspective. Grateful to still be around and able to enjoy family and friends.  Everybody stay cool!   Go Cubbies!   Buck

Jerry-I must comment about your uncle, Verlyn Thomas. If we are talking about the same Verlyn, he was a wonderful man! The Verlyn Thomas I knew was our Bishop in the Jefferson Ward of the Temple View Stake back in the early 60's. He was a young and energetic leader who influenced me for good as he set a great example of Christ-like love.

At the time, we lived in a house across the street from South High (1554 S State, to be exact). My parents had been divorced for about 4 years and my hard working mother was struggling to raise 5 children by herself. Bishop Thomas was a God-send, both spritually and temporally. There are certain people that are put in your life that act as Sentinels and inspiration. Verlyn Thomas was one of those special people in my life.

And Ray and Deann, thanks for pointing out the passing of Mrs Orme. We were close in that I was on the Scribe staff all three years at South. Mrs Orme and I locked horns more than once over editorial content. In the spring of each year, the "Junior Edition" of the Scribe was put out and the seniors would take a siesta while the underclassmen would do all the work. I had just been selected to be the editor of the Scribe for our upcoming senior year and as such, tradition dictated that I serve as the junior editor (spring of '69). I proceeded to put together my vision of what a high school newspaper should be: a discussion of current events including editorial content about Vietnam, civil rights and the music of the 60's. Sweet Mrs Orme would have none of it and the struggle over the fate of that Junior Edition fell to Dr Williams who ultimately sided with Mrs Orme. In so doing, I resigned as future Scribe editor. Arva Dover was named editor. As I recall, Mrs Orme threw me a bone by including me in the yearbook as a member of the Scribe staff our senior year. And now you know the rest of the story...
