55 for the 55th Trivia Quiz – Wandering Memory Lane

Below are 55 questions for you to answer. You may know the answer to the question straight away. People who were at the reunion were asked not to use their phones. Instead, everyone got a sticker to wear with an answer on it so they could wander the room, chat up other people and find the answers if they didn’t know them. There were actually 5 bonus questions – 60 altogether. I will post 10 of the questions over the next 6 days. I will post the answers before I put up the next batch.

1. Who was Student Body President when you were a sophomore?

2. Who was Student Body President when you were a junior?

3. Who was Student Body President when you were a senior?

4. Which vice principal loved to give out pink slips?

5. Where was a great place to go ice skating in Sugar House?

6. What’s the phenomenal name of the road that leads from the capitol building to City Creek Canyon?

7. What was a great venue for rock bands to play?

8. What was the first mall in Utah?

9. What year was South High built?

10. Who was the governor of Utah in 1970?

To everyone at last nights reunion.....thanks so much for coming, even if I didn't recognize you or get a chance to chat! You were all so important in my life at South and I can't thank you enough for your friendship. I've tried sending messages to everyone I can remember chatting with so forgive me if I missed anyone. Initially I was very anxious about coming, almost to the point of not showing up but it was great fun, better than I could have imagined. Can't wait to do it again in another 5! Hugs!!!

Hey y'all, I agree with all the previous posts; a great reunion, a lot of fun, great food and a multitude of memories!!

Buck mentioned to me he was grateful for the name tags.  Likewise, I was grateful, although I must admit in most cases those tags would have been useless without my glasses!!

I had several classmates ask where they could find a copy of the "Reflections" video of our high school days that was playing during the event.  Actually the link is right there on the Home Page of this website (in the left margin right under the photo of the school). Just click in the "Reflections Video" link where you can view it anytime at your leisure, as well as the videos I put together following the 40th, 45th & 50th reunions. Sorry, but the "In Memorium" section within the Reflections video featuring photos of classmates that have passed is not totally up-to-date (hard to keep up the editing of that section these days). I also plan on to putting together a video of last night's event as well soon (hmmmm. . . soon. . . a dubious time frame for me these days!!).

Also at the reunion I made mention of a lyrics from a song "Don't Let the Old Man In" by singer, song writer Toby Keith that has particular meaning for me, offering great advice at this stage life.  Below are the lyrics:

Don't Let The Old Man In

Don't let the old man in, I wanna live some more.
Can't leave it up to him
He's knocking on my door.

I knew all of my life
That someday it would end,
Get up and go outside
Don't let the old man in.

Many moons I have lived
My body's weathered and worn
Ask yourself: “How old would you be
If you didn't know the day you were born.”

Try to love on your wife
And stay close to your friends
Toast each sundown with wine
Don't let the old man in.

Many moons I have lived
My body's weathered and worn
Ask yourself: “How old would you be
If you didn't know the day you were born.”

When He rides up on his horse
And you feel that cold bitter wind
Look out your window and smile
Don't let the old man in . . .

Look out your window and smile
Don't let the old man in.

Although long ago, and but a brief slice in our span of life, I consider my three years at South to be among the most memorable, enjoyable and influential. Thank you all for being an important part of my journey, and as we continue along life's road together, may we always remember: "Don't let the old man (or woman) in!!
