I just attended a seminar and I wanted to pass on some info to everyone so that no Cubbie is taken for all their worth (and that's a lot).
If anyone is using Facebook or any other social networking website, please be careful what personal information you leave there. Whatever you input belongs to them or to whomever they want to sell it. And you can bet a lot of hackers are having a hay day with the information that is there. Whatever is there is for the whole world to see and it's sad but there are a lot of desperate people trying to make a quick buck on anyone, especially when they don't even know you.
For example, don't put any personal information that might be used for resetting your password to your credit cards or, even worse, your debit cards. You are normally only liable for the first $50 stolen from your credit card accounts but there are no limits to the amounts they steal from your debit card accounts and more and more people are using them now instead of credit cards. And please make sure your kids and grandkids know this as well because they are the ones that are using the social networking websites the most. They probably want to have as many friends as possible but they might be letting supposed friends in that could be hackers instead and they are really good at getting personal information out of anybody. Also, make sure your spyware and anti-virus software are up to date.
Sorry for the serious note but I just want to look out for my fellow Cubbies. Besides, who needs Facebook when we have the Message Forum?
