Dale don't stop short of giving more detail about your experiences.

I randomly selected that topic, not because of lack of interest but because there are so many areas we all experience collectively that are certainly worth sharing.

I have spent the better part of my retirement since 2005 engaged in the UFO and Ancient Alien area having gone to many conferences and special events and teaching conferences on the subject.

After reading Philip Corso's book about his handling of the Roswell evidence I read several other books by different authors. I have so much material on the subject that I could have written a couple books myself. One author that I collaborated with, that wrote about Roswell, told me about a event he didn't include in his book, he told me that when one of the original ranchers went to one of the crash sites, he found that a couple of the aliens were still alive but not in very good shape. He mentally communicated with the alien asking how he could help get him to safety and possible attend to his injuries. The alien communicated back that when he enlisted to do this work he knew that it could possible end this way and that he accepted his fate.

While going through some of my late father's documents on my computer I found the below;

Inline Image Not Displayed (The image didn't display so I typed it in ugh!

SOUTH HIGH S.L.C UT.. FIRST YEAR AS A HIGH SCHOOL..NOT VERY ORGANIZED. SEVERAL OF US TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THIS. (I WAS A REAL SMART-ASS)  HAD GOOD--STUDY HABITS AND THE SCHOOLS IN UTAH WERE NOT AS HARD AS BACK EAST..ACTUALLY, I WAS BORED WITH SCHOOL. FOR INSTANCE, BACK EAST IN SCHOOL..I HAD TAKEN ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY AND EVEN CALCULUS, SO THE MATH CLASSES IN UTAH WERE A SNAP. THERE WAS NO CHALLENGE TO ME. SO I SLUFFED SCHOOL, CUT CLASSES, AND GAVE DEVOE WOLF (PRINCIPAL) AND WINEFED DYER, (VIDE-PRINCIPAL), A REAL BAD TIME. (MISS DYER WAS A TYPICAL OLD MAID...BUT A GOOD WOMAN) I WAS STILL GETTING GOOD GRADES, BUT THEY EXPELLED ME SO MANY TIMES, MISS DYER SAID SHE SAW MORE OF MY MOTHER THAN SHE DID OF ME. FINALLY, IT WAS MORE THAN MISS DYER COULD TAKE (ESPECIALLY AFTER TIME SHE WOULD LOCK ME IN A ROOM TO THINK IT OVER, AND I WOULD CLIMB OUT THE WINDOW AND GO OVER TO THE 'PIE SHOP') SHE FINALLY EXPELLED ME AND SAID THERE WAS NO WAY SHE WOULD EVER LET ME BACK IN SOUTH HIGH. THIS TIME SHE MEANT IT. AND I HAD TO FINISH THE SCHOOL YEAR AT WEST HIGH. I STRAIGHTENED UP AND DID WELL THERE, SO THEY LET ME FINALLY GRADUATE FROM SOUTH HIGH. (AFTER I WAS OUT OF SCHOOL, I VISITED MISS DYER SEVERAL TIMES, SOMETIMES WITH MAX KENDALL (HE HAD BEEN A PROBLEM, ALSO)..AND WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS. SHE USED TO TELL ME THAT I WAS TOO 'DARN' SMART FOR MY OWN GOOD AND WAS HEADED FOR TROUBLE.)

YEP! My dad was trouble everywhere he went, LOL!

I knew my dad went to South but I didn't know it was the first year it was opened. I guess that makes our family founders? Lol!

I seemed to have followed in my dad's footsteps because I spent most of my senior year having coffee elsewhere or working at ZCMI in Granger. Life is strange.

Nice history Richard. My friend Doug Chapman's father Val was also at South the first year it openned.  What I hear about his high school experience he may have been hanging out with your Dad.

Your Father's experience at South sounds a lot like mine.  I was never expelled and at times it seemd like I could do whatever I want and suffer nothing more than making Mr. Blackhurst Angry and red in the face.

As for the UFO stuff, I have shared it with experts and some wondered if I wasn't drunk or stoned when I saw them.  Enough said about that.

I diid get to know Bill through my years in sports at KSL.  So many games, events and other stuff.  He took a liking to me because I graduated from South.   Years later when my son became interested in sports we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with Ute sports, particularly basketball, through our relationship.  My son still has many momentos from back then  We were even invited on occasion to watch the Utes workout because of Bill, someting Majerus rarely allowed back then.  RIP Cub/Ute

Hey Ken-
I was just about to post that Neil Roberts is your man. He sounds like he know that area of the world like you and I knew the back alleys of west SLC. Which was pretty good.

Ahhh - reflections - It's interesting looking back, but I would never want to do any of it over again.  Life has many great lessons, both from great, as well as, less enjoyable experiences.  Every day is simply a new adventure!  As for your destination picks Char, mine came out 'stay at home'. Can't imagine why! (Covid!!) I hope all of you cubbies are having a delightful holiday season and making memories at home or where ever life is taking you.  HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!!!

A big "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" and heart-felt THANKS to Preston Miller for setting up and funding the South High Class of 1970 website all these years!!  This site has contributed greatly to the closeness our class keeping our friendships fresh and alive as we've pursued our diverse lives these past 50+ years.

All the best to you, Preston, and also to each member of the Class of 1970 as we look forward (hopefully) to a belated reunion this coming summer!!

Jeff, I'm glad you revealed the secret about who has been providing this website for all of us for all of these years. I've often wondered if anyone ever asked the question about who was providing us with this opportunity. Preston didn't want anyone to know and has often expressed his joy in being able to do it. That's just the kind of guy Preston is. I'm glad to now publicly thank him again. Thanks Preston.
