Candida Bettinson (Jensen)

I've been listening to an extra lot (more than my daily usual) of 60's and 70's YouTube music, sent to me by an old friend our age.  It sure does bring back a whole lot of great memories.  I loved my years in high school and proud to say I will always be a South High Cub!!!

Ok Charlotte, What are we going to talk about? Well i'm waiting..................

Charlotte Warr (Andersen)

OK, Gloria!

Does anyone remember Mr. Lalonde, the art teacher? I had him for 3 years. I don't have anything good to say as to his ability as an art teacher. Note that I'm being kinda careful because this is a public forum after all.

I have to have my dose of 60's and 70's music often too, Candida. The first single I ever bought was White Room by Cream. I think that song sounds cool even by today's standards. I have to get out my Donovan collection often. I made a black and yellow coat with multi-colored embroideries on it for a big fashion show about 7 years ago. I was going to call it "Electrical Banana" from the song Mellow Yellow until a friend pointed out what electrical banana meant.

I was listening to Pearl Jam in the 90's before my children were. I was listening to "Alive" one day with the volume way up and my oldest daughter, probably 16 at the time walked in and asked me why I had to listen to my music so loud - made me feel very cool at the time. I usually listen to X96 when the radio's on. When my son borrows my car and then I get it back I find he's tuned it to the Arrow Classic Hits. Then I leave it there for a while.

Paul Michelson has updated his selection of videos on his profile again if you haven't noticed. I always enjoy seeing what he puts up. I thought the Bob Hope bit was funny even if I am a D.

Charlotte,

I read the forum alot, I just never feel like I have much to add to it. I am sure there are others out there who do the same, so for all of us I say, "Keep up the good work of entertaining all of us cubbies!!!"

Colleen the nice thing about this is you don't need to worry about adding to it. Just jump in and let your brain play. No ones going to grade you on it, you don't even have to make sense in fact it's better when we don't try to make sense right?

Charlotte, unfortunately i do remember LaLonde, and your right he wasn't a great art teacher, it might have helped if he'd have stopped staring down girls blouses and actually have tried to teach art. Oh good news I figured out where goodie two shoes came from.

Once upon a time a little girl and her sister lived in a little pink cottage with their mom and dad. The youngest daughter was always neat and tiddy, but the older daughter was forever strewing her crap all over the place. Every morning the mom would have to help the older girl find her shoes, but the little girl always knew exactly where both of her shoes were. The mom was constantly saying, "Why can't you be like your sister and put your shoes together so you can find them?"

Kid's being kids the older daughter grew to detest the younger sister and started calling her, "lil goodie two shoes." When they got to high school the oldest sister wasn't getting good grades but she always had dates. The youngest sister got good grades and ended up as a maid in the castle of her sister's husband Prince Hunky. And the moral of this story is Prince Hunky doesn't care if you're neat and tidy, he can afford a maid.  So I'm a major clutter butt why can't I find prince hunky?  i just keep finding toads, no marbles just toads, oh well maybe tomorrow I'll write a story about a fat old lady that lives in the magic mushroom forest with the fuller brush man.

I'll look forward to the next story, Gloria. Keep 'em coming!

Hey guys! Are you going to let the women take over this forum?

I guess we are just to use to not being able to get a word in edgewise.

Great stuff Paul.

Bob (Buck) Post

Hey Buzz, here is an edgewise. I'm like Colleen and check the site most days but don't have much to add, but I am worried about Degraw. I hope there wasn't a spike on the inside of his helmet holding it in place, if so it might have caused a problem for him to communicate. Charlotte, I like poetry, actually wrote one to Helen while we were dating and won her over. So everyone, stay cool and be happy, and our class was the best!   Buck      (that was definately Curt Shelton in the photo, great person)

Yes, Mi Amigo, El Bucko, somehow I did put my helmet on inside-out. Wouldn't have been so bad, since the spike could hardly find any brainal matter to puncture, but, as it turns out, my medulla oblongata, even as small as it is, oddly enough, is allergic to chrome.  Allerganado in The Outer Limits. P.S. Even tho' they didn't allow La Goldwinga to be 'taken up', they relieved my fears by presenting me with a fully restored 1960 Chevy Corvair, equipped with thrusters (yes, they read Paul's messages[or his mind]-They know EVERYTHING about us), as long as I am in their 'presence' - Thus, I may never return ! P.S.2 - Buzz, how's this for 'edgewise' ?  P.S. 3 -- Charlotta, of course not, My house no longer exists. P.S. 4 --- Candida, your words were well chosen - " out there somewhere".

Jerry ... how are you??? Please write back if you can and let us all know as several of the latest message forums have mentioned it ... You, mister are in my prayers and I pray for you and all of your family ... that all is well as can be and that your humor will soon be shared again with all of us! I am being pestered by fly's tonight ... they seem to be invading my quiet moments and shouldn't even be flying around the house (considering all the fly paper I have put up they should be stuck to it and letting me be so I can write to my cub friends ... well enough of that, cause I slack at being funny ... but truly do hope to hear back :):( :) Catherine

Star of Star, I am presently being held prisoner in an alternate Universe - not quite set to check in to 'The Net' yet. We must not fret, I bet, they may release me after scanning my brain fully (that shouldn't take long). That's all they're gonna get. No sweat. Thanks 4 your concern. You can give them a few hints about the situation, lest I should let them forget. Jeraldine, somewhere near Kolob (I wouldn't say too much more than 'Alternate Universe' or they may not believe)

Okay my friend ... so you are having an MRI maybe??? and thought you were getting out easy by heading off to Kolob??? Not quite so fast ... selfishly ... I am going to say - dare I say - I hoped for a good friend like you and that you'll stick around earthlings a bit longer ... did you mean for me to tell the cubs you are doing okay? Just visiting an alternate universe for a bit of time... :) Please respond if signals are strong enough :) excited to hear from you again ... been worried :(

"Just visiting an alternate universe for a bit of time..." Will do just fine :)Si Si, Qui Qui, Da Da, Ya Ya. Here I am, minding my own business, on my way - Neon Goldwing providing a way for me to cause more trouble for Ross, when, all of a sudden, I see a strange light coming toward me......OK, u can tell 'em that tambien, pero yo must keep it 2 only those dos El Factos. If I am never heard from or seen again, tell 'em my farewell words "Mi Tio es enfermo, pero El Camino es Verde " ! If in doubt, just paste this whole bloody message on the Forum - OK, since you insist, paste this one and the last one for the whole world to see, since I don't know when and IF I will ever return to Idumea. Former Earthling

So good to have you back, Jerry. Your special influence has already made the message board wider. How'd you do that? Now to try to decipher the language of the Outer Limits!

Thanx ! All things are possible in the Fringy 'Alternate Universe' - Except, maybe, Neonizing the Recycle Bin for Friday (what?), [Why?], {How?}. But....know this....Things pertaining to Herriman are not allowed in this bizzare Universe(Ross y Familia excluded), as that is where great fortunes were lost !!! Ahhhhhhhh.....They're coming to take me away, Ha Ha !   Got- the- Point DeGrawski

Hey Paul! Thanks for the Green Day - Time of Your Life - another of my faves. And that Dr. Pepper commercial; so silly but so happy.

Jerry, you mentioned Herriman. Were you involved with the machine gun fire at all? My brother came very close to having his house destroyed. His was one of the ones they photographed with flames surrounding it.   Charlotte

Jerald DeGraw

Thank you for your kind words, Char, but who said I'm 'Back' ?  We cannot speak of things pertaining to Herriman, except that, no, the fire was just fine - roasted Marshme[a]llows (?) and Franks.   Way-Out-There......Somewhere

Lady type cubbies. do you still have your recipe from cooking class for fry pan cookies? I lost mine when I had to sell my home and my son helped me move. He threw away all my cookbooks and recipe cards. I remember it was dates rice krispies, eggs, flour and, sugar... but I have to have a recipe for it. I would realy appreciate it if you would check to see if you have it and email it to me. Thank you, glo

Candida Bettinson (Jensen)

Just incase anyone else wants to make some:

Frying Pan Cookies

1/4 cup butter

2 eggs (Slightly beaten)

1 1/2 cups dates, pitted & chopped

1 cup white sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

3 cups crisp rice cereal

1/2 cup flaked coconut or 1/3 cup powdered sugar

Melt butter or margarine in heavy skillet. Add eggs. Stir in dates, sugar, salt and vanilla. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until thick and well blended. Mix Rice Krispies and nuts in large bowl. Stir cooked mixture into them until coated. Chill. Put by teaspoonful on cookie sheet. Refridgerate. When cold roll in coconut  or powdered sugar.

I would change the vanilla extract with a CUP of Jack Daniels. And sprinkle them with POT instead of the sugar. But that's just me.

Buzz-

I hear alcohol doesn't make you fat!   It makes you lean...on tables, chairs and random ugly people.

(Maybe 1 cup is a little much)

Ernest "Buzz" Fontana

Candida,

You sweetheart you. I certainly wish that was the case. I'd still be pencil thin. We obviously didn't run into each other at the reunion or the park. Leaning is not something I do well anymore also, just ask Scott and Cyndee what happened in the parking lot before golfing. Once I get past vertical it's all over and it doesn't matter if you are ugly, or a table, or anything else, I just suggest you move quickly. I do prefer to land on the pretty ones, but at this stage in my life, I'm not real picky! Anyway, Happy Halloween to all, I'm off to make Buzzard Breathe Chili, if you think the cookies were loaded, you might as well eat this chili laying down. Saves the falling part.

See ya,

Buzzard

I have a question! Have any of you ever pointed your mouse at the t.v. and clicked it? Aint old age a hoot? Some days it's deppressing, but then I think..... at least I don't have to take an Algebra test today. What's realy the pits is when you grab the poli grip instead of the ben gay. Ewww getting that crap off of ya is pert near to impossible. Guess this isn't an old age thing, I just remembered in high school spraying hair spray on my arm pits and putting (Brylcream)sp? on my toothbrush.

Candida Bettinson (Jensen)

I remember when I was young, my Grandma put Brycream on her toothbrush.  She didn't have her hearing aid in, and by the time we got the message across...she just shrugged her shoulders and kept brushing.  "A LITTLE DAB WILL DO YA!"

Gosh Gloria! Maybe I'm doing better than I thought I was!

A while back I was doing some cleaning (which I get around to every now and then) and lost track of my dishrag.  --Looked high and low for it, but it was not to be found!  Later that day, while fixing lunch for some of my grandkids, I opened the refridgerator, and magically ??!!--there was the dishrag! Aliens - someone from Jerry's alternate universe, I'm sure.  Keep smiling!

Surely the end is near OR Obama has now succeeded in neutralizing the rest (those of us who were not fooled) of our Brain Stems OR Buzz snuck his 'special cookie formula' into the world's water supply OR The Whole World has become 'Y' Fans (at least those who don't follow Football), for I can't seem to conjur up any stark- raving -mad comments [OR are we ALL in this 'special' Universe] ?     "Ain't He Special"

Thanks for the birthday wishes!  Speaking of getting old, I noticed a few of you posting some 'senior' moments.  Well, we all have them I supposed....I was ironing a shirt for my husband Glen and noticed how 'lemony' the starch smelled and how easy the iron was gliding across the shirt.  When I put the starch back on the shelf, I noticed it was PLEDGE!  He sure smelled good that day!

......Snicket {see above}.  Live chat ?....what live chat ? Never heard of it.....at least in These Realms  - here it is Live Telepathy.....Good Vibes and all that - think of the $ it could save. Give it a try, right now...... do The Beach Boys come to mind ? Are you receiving a piece of my mind right now? (it may result in a very much needed therapy session soon) OR, at minimum, the 'Forum' will never be the same - at least we will all be on the same, DEMENTED wavelength.      El Dementoro
