I hope you all had the kind of Fourth that was enjoyable for you. I found my inner codger emerging as the night went on, the fireworks were excessive, and the smoke was making life unpleasant.

I want to share a few momories of Bruce Petersen.  We met in 5th grade at Glendale and as I was back then I decided to try him on.  That was stupid. Later in high school we did some drinking together and had some fun.  In recent years I learned he is related to one of my Wife's Cousins and he had some nice things to say about me on Facebook.  He was always ready to laugh and if need be stand his ground.  He was always quite proud of his Scottish ancestory.  RIP Pedes

My favorite memory of Kenny Rogers is that he was one of long hair musicians banned from the Grand Ole Opre.  Some years later, after the Opre recanted, Kenny hosted the County Music Awards Ceremony and won most of the awards.

I hear you Chuck! Did you watch Ken Burn's documentary on the history of Country/Western Music? Fabulous and interesting.

I'm from Wyoming Brent and Country was the tune of music until we moved to Salt Lake.  When I became more wierd and a bit long hair I wondered what was wrong in the Country Music World with musicians like Alabama, The Oakridge Boys and Willie Nelson that they weren't welcome in the Oprea. It seemed to change everyone's attitude when they openned up. Thank God.

Hope things are good with you Brent.

Hello All:

I just want to say a belated ...THANK YOU! for your wishes of a Happy Birthday!,  Goes to show you how often I get on my high school message forum.

I'd also like to ask Dale Salazar where in Wyoming he's from.  A small world this is because I moved from SLC to Wyoming and lived there for many years.  I'm now in Kentucky.

It's good to hear some of the music and what some of my classmates are up to.  Don't get on here much.

Hope to hear from you.

Have a wonderful day and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Béa

Always good to meet someone from Wyoming.  I'm from Laramie.   The first six of us were born in Wheatland, two in Greybull, one in Manderson, one in Erie, Colorado then me.

My sister raised her family in Evanston and we had relatives in almost every town across southern Wyoming as many of us worked for the Union Pacific.

I still root for Wyo against everyone except Utah.  Priorities.

Where are you from?

I still rarely use the remote from anywhere but in front of the TV. (but then, I don't watch much TV).

I can remember when the kids used to be watching after school TV, when we inherited my husband's aunt's old remote TV,, and my husband, when he got home from work, used to tease them by jingling his keys  and it would change the channels.  They didn't think it was funny, however.

Not my Joke. Sharing from Facebook:

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING,“SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD.”

WELL, YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE:

MY NAME IS ALICE , AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST.

I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA ON THE WALL, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.

SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS SOME 30-ODD YEARS AGO.

COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?

UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.

THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE.

AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL .

”YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG,” HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.

“WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?” I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED, “IN 1975. WHY DO YOU ASK?”

“YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!” I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.

THEN, THAT UGLY,

OLD,

BALD,

WRINKLED FACED,

FAT-ASSED,

GRAY-HAIRED,

DECREPIT

SON-OF-A-GUN

ASKED,

”WHAT SUBJECT DID YOU TEACH?”

To reply Charlotte;  About five years ago I took clinets from Idaho out for dinner & drinks.  I hadn't realized that Sandy Station had changed to a completely different bar but the music was great.  As I danced with the older sister a young lady approached us and said, "it's so great to see the old people dancing."  We both stopped and looked around for old people.

Gary,

My sincere condolences.  I can relate very well as my mother just passed on March 19th.  She was 3 days shy of her 94th birthday.  She had had a rather severe stroke so being released from those effects was a blessing for her.  It was also a blessing for me as we had her here at my home for the last few days of her life.  I had to watch her go through those trials.

Best wishes,

Randall M. Petersen

You fellows have my sympathy on the loss of your Mothers Gary and Randall.  I envy you that you got to keep her this late in your life.  While they both deserve their rest I know it still hurts.  God Bless.

For those of you who remember Richard Green, he passed away a couple of days ago.  For some reason, he closed his profile on here a couple of years back. His wife was killed in a car accident a couple of years ago, as they were moving to St George.

I have kept in contact with him, and he has been very I'll, from his years of service in the SL Crime Lab, when things were not know to be as dangerous (meth houses, etc.), but passed away quite unexpectedly 8/13.  I have yet to see an obituary posted.

Rest in peace, Rick, and have a wonderful, eternal reunion with your sweet Janie!

Candida,

Yes, I remember Richard Green.  Not only is he a Cub, but you will most likely also remember him from our Forest Elementary group.

I had a couple of experiences with him while he was working for the crime lab.  I had the misfortune to be burgled a few times.  Two of those times the investigating officer called for the crime lab to come take pictures, try to lift some fingerprints, etc and Richard was the tech that came.  The first time we spent some time talking about "do you remember this and that" and "I saw so and so the other day, you'll never guess what he is doing now".  We had to explain to the police officer that we had known each other since grade school.  Second time he came I said to him that we need to stop meeting like this.

I went to the visitation/viewing for his wife as I couldn't stay for the funeral.  He was terribly distraught at the time. That really hit him hard.  Maybe it is good that they are back together.

Janis Ian posted this on Facebook the other day. Someone took the time to remove all the accompianment and made a her voice only. It's rather haunting this way.
