Well folks I'll share my emotions with you. Let me start by thanking all the well wishers of you for Nate's campaign. This is a definitive sign of how far we've really come. A relatively unknown with zero community experience shows up and forces his name on a lawsuite that instantly makes him a hero. He decides to run against a well prepared individual with extensive community experience and service. The voters decided they would rather have the newcomer. Don't ask me why because I don't know. Lets just say City Hall remains, again, for whites only. Nate was the 6th hispanic to run for the office, and did make the best showing, but again not to be. In the old days Jess Agraz did serve on the City Commission.
Yes we are all heart broken and exhausted but we are planning the next move. You can't hold a good man down.
In parting I've made more new friends in the last ten months than in any other era of my life and we are humbled by how close the vote was.
For now we need to complete this year's annual Turkey Drive to provide birds for students at the poorest schools in the valley. Nate is the Chair of the Frank Cordova Foundation Community Turkey Drive. If you would like to help out log onto the UCLR Website, (Utah Coalition of La Raza), and make a donation on line.
Thank you for your time.
