This time of year takes me back to our A'capella and Bel Canto Days. Mr Willardsen was pretty good at booking us to some very fun places. You got to get out of school and travel, sing, laugh, mess around and then go back to school all while having it approved! The people in those classes were fanastic and talented. George Henry would play the piano and we all learned the words to songs including Christmas songs I still remember. Music brings me the real meaning of Christmas very quickly and I must thank those who were part of my South High experience in that space.

I am grateful many of you are still connecting on this site and so you know I can see who checks it and there are many, even a great many, that read but do not communicate. This site offers us a space to recognize those that have passed on as well as some fun ideas, comments and pictures.

May we grow much older together for a long time is my hope for you and for me.

Please stay safe and stay tuned for our reunion in the coming year we hope.

God Bless you South High Cubs. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

PRESTON,

THANKS FOR BEING THE GLUE THAT KEEPS US CUBS TOGETHER. WE TRULY HAD A FABULOUS CLASS OF 1970.  I TOO REMEMBER THOSE FUN ESCAPES WE HAD WITH A'CAPELLA AND BEL CANTO. CAPTIOL THEATER, THE ALTA CLUB AND MANY MORE GIGS.  I LEARNED MORE FROM MR. WILLARDSEN THAN FROM ANY OTHER TEACHER I'M QUITE SURE.  HE TAUGHT US THINGS THAT WOULD HELP US THROUGH LIFE'S SITUATIONS.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES ALL YOU WONDERFUL CUBS.  MAY WE ALL HAVE A BETTER  UPCOMING 2021 AND KISS THIS CORONOCOLYPS GOODBYE.  TAKE CARE AND BE HEALTHY ALL YOU CUBS!

WARMEST ALOHA,

MARY B

FINALLY...re-visiting this FANTASTIC Site (Thank You, Pres, and probably Others - I JUST discovered 'Home Page') :-) I'm freed up,a bit, after Being Aide to President Trump for the last 4 years, but an EXPLOSION is about to erupt ( megaTONS more than the itty bitty one currently in Hawaii ), but I divert, for a few minutes, from The Political Firestorm, Cyclone, Tsunami, 15KT Little-Boy filled with Uranium-235...whatever You want to label it, almost fully charged,Tomorrow. How I've enjoyed being mesmerized by Your recent posts...ALL of them. Being a part of Homeland Security, there's more to one of Richard Smith's posts than meets the ear. Going back in time has been MOST enjoyable :-) What works best for You...Back to the Future or Forward to the Past? :-) Keep Smilin' smiley

I work part time as a substitute Customer Service Clerk at the Salt Lake County Libraries. Steve Nielsen is a CSS at the Whitmore Library. He's a year older than me but the years have not been kind healthwise to Steve. I guess as along as he's been alive he's been dreaming up poems and songs in his head. This is one he dictated to me the other day. I like it.

Where this person came from

I swear that I don't know.

He showed up in the mirror one day

and now he just won't go.

His face is old and wrinkled,

his hair is filled with gray.

And I don't like him very much

and I wish he'd go away.

Steve Nielsen

I mentioned Steve Nielsen in my previous post. He said he was a sometimes roadie/stan-in for a group called Sun, Shade 'n Rain a group from Salt Lake City. I told him I had never heard of them. Have any of you?

I not only have heard of them I saw them perform at Lagoon as a back up band at one
of the many great concerts I went to in the 60's. They along with the Bossmen and others were among a collection of great local bands, many of whom had band members from South High.
Lee Heinhold could regale us with many stories of those band members.
