After graduation from SOUTH HIGH, I attended the University of Utah for a year. What a year, a lot of dates, golf, and tennis. I then served a mission to Japan. Upon returning I attended BYU, but was a slow person to graduate since I would work, then go to school, then work, then go to school. Finally in 1985 I received degrees in Geography, Business, and Asian Studies (Japanese)
About two years after my mission I met a young lady, Akemi, from Japan at a mission reunion. About year after that, December, 1975, we were married.
I've worked in my life as a photographer, English teacher, audio-visual salesman, insurance and securities agent, and store manager, until 1987.
Then in 1987, I decided to change directions and went to school be become an school teacher. I obtained the needed degrees from the University of Utah and began a career with the Granite School District. I've worked for the District in various capacities until 2013. I retired in 2013 because of health issues, which, gratefully have been corrected and I now enjoy very good health.
Also, over the past 20 years, I have worked in several positions at the Sandy and Salt Lake Sylvan Learning Centers. I really enjoy helping our young people.
After retiring from thr Granite School District I became an associate at the Believe International Foundation. We provide education scholarships to extremely poor but achieving students in the Philippines. As part of the requirements, every student must also participate in a "values" and "Leadership" program. The "BELIEVE" in Believe International is an acronym which stands for Building Effective Leadership, Integrity, Excellence, and Values through Education. We believe that leaders with values can actually improve a society and lessen the spread of corruption. Aside from authoring several textbooks, I am coordinator of the online college program.
