Karen Frakes Hind

After high school I went to Utah State Univ. for one year then got a job for Mercury Publishing Co. and waited for Doug to come home from his mission. He got home in April and we were married on June 28. 1973. We bought our first home (duplex) in June of 1974 right before our first baby was born. Moved later to Hunter, lived there for 18 months then moved to West Jordan, Bennion area. After living there for 12 years we moved to the house we are in now. After serveral jobs that Doug had, he started working for the LDS Church. Doug is over all disability materials. We have had the opportunity to travel the world with Doug's work. (I had a wonderful mother who helped babysit so I could go.) We had a swimming pool in our first house in West Jordan and Doug and I gave swimming lesson for a number of years. I worked alot of odd jobs, we laugh at them now but they help put food on the table. Then one day Doug bought a tent trailer and we decided to rent it out to make payments on it. Now, 24 years later we have a successful business: UTAH RV RENTALS. For the first ten years I answered phones and book all the reservations. We have been blessed to run this out of our back yard (don't ask how) It has been crazy, but a wonderful side business. We are now ready to build a new location. 7800 So and 2700 West. West Jordan. We have over 80 unites. Doug still works for the Church but is ready to retire early so he can devote all his time to our business. We have 15 perfect grandchildren and two more on the way. I love to make quilts and do machine embroidery. I do most of the yard work (Almost 2 arc. and mostly grass) We still love to travel and spend time with our kids and their families. We are trying to stay health by eating better and going to the gym alot..
If it hadn't been for going to South High I wouldn't have married my best friend and the most wonderful man in the world.
