I feel more melancholy since my Dad passed in September.  It was difficult at Thanksgiving missing him at the family dinner. I appreciate all the comforting remarks and remembrances others had of my Dad.

I love the Carpenters music. They were my favorite to listen to.  I loved their to songs and harmonizing.  Their music was soulful.  With aging I find myself reminiscing about the good childhood we were blessed to experience and wishing the future for our children will become more stable.  Enough rambling.  I don't contribute very often but my memories of South High are such an important part of my formative years.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Yes, Suzanne, I think I know how You feel...it's been a few years now, but I just can not get over the death of My Parents...and Sister...and Brother-in-Law...and...

If You enjoy the Carpenters, as much as I do, then, perhaps, You may enjoy The Lettermen also - I REALLY do, at least as much, if not more ! ( once, I even got to sing with Them  :-).

Thanks Jerald.  I love the Letterman.  I've heard the group that came to Idaho Falls.  They were younger men but the same great harmony.  This year I've lost 2 uncles, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and Dad.  I'm able to talk about Dad without crying now.  Thanks for your kind words.

I wanted my fellow Cubs to be aware of the caring and awesome job fellow Cub, Jeff Chivers, did in getting me set-up for my Medicare supplemental insurance.  As I turn 65 on 1/2/2017 I was very apprehensive about walking through the maze of Medicare and insurance options.  I met with Jeff on a couple of my trips to Salt Lake City.  He was so gracious to come to my parents' home to meet with me.  We were able to do the rest of the application process through emails and phone calls.

Jeff's posted so many informative articles on the Medicare process on our reunion site.  These postings provided me with some insight into what options were available.  He's licensed in Idaho (where I live) as well as Utah.  If you're still scratching you head as your age-in date approaches please get in contact with Jeff so he can lend you a helping hand.

A bit of a shock, having just sent a 'Happy Birthday' message to Christine (My Neighbor, growing up), to now finding Her in the 'In Memory' section. Mortality is, indeed, a fragile state, sometimes :-( Among a million other things that are troubling Me, is the news I heard on KSL, yesterday, while being stuck on I-15, just behind the multi-car pile-up - you know, the one about the sweet young 12 year-old girl that took Her own life...LIVE on Facebook ! Oh, yes, and the one about the 12 year-old boy who has been in a torture-chamber for a year or two, under the 'care' and keeping of His 'Mother' !!!  I better stop now...

...I think I needed to hear Paul's song, above, to stop My hankerin' for a Prozac...

The story of my life...

Lyrics

Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain
I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days

She told me in the morning
She don't feel the same about us in her bones
It seems to me that when I die
These words will be written on my stone

And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The ground beneath my feet is open wide
The way that I've been holdin' on too tight
With nothing in between

The story of my life, I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm and time
Is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life, I give her hope
I spend her love until she's broke, inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

Written on these walls are
The colors that I can't change
Leave my heart open
But it stays right here in its cage

I know that in the morning now
I see ascending light upon a hill
Although I am broken, my heart is untamed, still

And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The fire beneath my feet is burning bright
The way that I've been holdin' on so tight
With nothing in between

The story of my life, I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm and time
Is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life, I give her hope
I spend her love until she's broke, inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

And I've been waiting for this time to come around
But baby running after you is like chasing the clouds

The story of my life
I take her home
I drive all night
To keep her warm and time
Is frozen

The story of my life I give her hope (give her hope)
I spend her love until she's broke (until she's broke inside)
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

The story of my life
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life

surprise Hey Jerry where the %3?S x= Erda In this Gloryous State??  Never herd of it before now. I guess by having a Tractor, You don't half to pay for Taxes or Insurance, what a gas Farmer In the  Dell "Jerry"Mc Donald  Degraw!!!               GARY the Bell

02/04/17 10:16 PM #3161

Jerald DeGraw

Quite correct, Gary,This Farmer doesn't have to pay taxes nor insurance on either tractor... I don't give them $1,000 so they can go buy a toilet seat for Air Force 1...in fact, Trump is a good friend of mine, and He promised...NO toilet seats !  :-) He takes care that We can buy Millie's Hamburgers at least once a week...oh, Erda is farm/cowboy country between wretched Stansburry Park and Tooele...those two are the buns, and Erda(dear, when You re-arrange the letters) is the true meat...like Millie burgers (21st  So, 10th or 11th East).

...by the by, does ANYONE, out there, especially You Sugar House Folks, ever eat at Millie's ? How about TrainBurger, in Heber (Dairy Keen), or Dairy Delight in Tooele, or Atlantis Burgers, in Kearns (WV ?), or Nohlgren's (Highland Drive), or ??? What's Your fave little cave, NOWADAYS, to munch ? Been hiding out at Millie's these 40 years now, possibly TrainBurger, also. Being a cheapskate, still, been spending WAY too much time at Pizza Pie Cafe, for a GREAT $6.49 buffet :-)

My motorcycle always stops in Erda, Utah.

To restock my supply of Thompson's Beef Jerky and to have lunch across the street...

(One of my secret hot spots on the road.)

Ahh...Paul, SO happy Erda is part of Your Life !!!  Yes, Thompson's and Virg's - a great combination to sit a spell, eat a meal, and then hit the road with Jerkey for later on down the road !  In warmer times, Ya' may even want to take in a drive-in movie across from Virg's  :-)  Thanks for the reply. Keep Smilin' and rid'n :-) Let's hear from the rest of Y'all :-)

Yeah, that could be VERY interesting...count Me IN. Maybe they could play that song on all of the outside speakers while You're doing it, while We're both chewin' on Jerky. Maybe My friend, Donald, would let You try Your luck at Fort Knox. Have You had Your bike out yet ? Let Me know when You're passing by Erda...I'll fire up the old Honda or Suzuki :-)

"Salt Lake City Motorcycle Club annual Polar Bear Ride. Lots of fun with lots of different riders. The weather was great, just a little chilly. I would guess that there were about 200+ bikers at this event."
