Time for something light - the Beatiles, when they were inspiring the Monkees!

This article from AARP has a great video with it.

Richard, one of the simple solutions to this political mess is to have term limits.  That way they don't become career and only care about the next election and how much stuff they can give away to keep their jobs.

Term limits are good for the president, it should be good for Congress.

Senators:  Maximum 2 limits; like the president.

Reps:  Maximum 5 terms.

Since we can't count on the citizenry to vote for change, have the consitution mandate it.

I agree with everything you said in the last post, Gerd. That's the solution but how do we get it implemented? You know our senators and congressmen aren't going to do it for us.

All but #7 work for me.

I agree Gerd, but even 5 terms is excessive. These guys get so used to the power that they forget that they aren't anymore qualified than the citizens they represent.

Ah yes, term limitations????

I recall a man named Orrin Hatch running on term limits in 1976.  Where is he now?  and so many in Utah love him dearly.

And like it or not this mess we call government still works.  It may frustrate so many for so many different reasons but the uneasiness is what makes America great.  After one party crushes the other it creates so much energy that we have new movements staring every several years like the Tea Party and more recently the Sanders Crew of mostly young Democrats.

Every new wave of energy creates a whole new discussion about how wierd or strange that new movement is.

My bottom line is there is no way to fix this mess becasue any fix we come up with will only violate someone's rights in some way and this Demorcatic Republic is based on "Freedom."  Your freedom ends where my nose begins.

Chuck & Rod,

Any time frame yet for Thurs. evening?  Still Piper Down?

Beware - major rant!

The theory of "Freedom" as you described it, Chuck, is not in operation here in the US. And I do not think it can ever be "your freedom ends at my nose" as long as our legislators are making rules about how people should lead their very private lives.

Is Mississippi going to hire "hoohoo" inspectors to make sure everyone is using the correct bathroom. What about a person's right to privacy? They are essentially denying certain people the right to use public restrooms. What do you think will happen if a transgender woman walks into a men's restroom?

Those legislators who claim that they want less government are busy invading womens' lives about things where women should have their own choice. The Supreme Court backed up Hobby Lobby and others "right not to have to provide birth control for their employees" because of their own religious beliefs. (I bet they believe in Viagra, though.) These blockheads think they know better and that women need controlling. (Swear word deleted.)

Some think that a baker's freedom is being violated if he is disgusted by gay people - so he shouldn't have to sell to them. Let's take that a little further. If a doctor in an emergency room is Jewish and a dying Muslim man is expecting treatment from him can he deny him aid? Or if a firefighter needed to rescue a lesbian from a burning building could he beg off because he does not approve of her lifestyle? Are we going to go back to that separate but equal BS? If a black man is being mugged by a white guy in an alleyway and is spotted by a cop is the policeman allowed to shrug and walk away? I think those in service industries are there to serve - not to judge.

A certain party is trying to make it harder and harder to vote because they fear the majority will not vote for their candidates - it's called voter supression.

And most of the loud voices proclaiming that their freedoms are being stepped upon are saying it because they want to be allowed to be intolerant of those not like them. They have no clue about what freedom is.

It is becoming my belief that thee are too many people in America who are embracing hate and intolerance as being a patriotic. I find it hard sometimes to say I'm proud of my country and that hurts because I do love my country.

It certainly is a mad, mad, mad, mad world, Paul.

As for freedom...I believe that definition should be looked up in the dictionary by all at this point and see if things make better sense all around.

I also believe it would be good for people to truly experience the 'freedoms' available in other countries.  Not just a visit, but living long enough to realize that even those we look at as 'pretty free' and normal as they actually are.  Take England or Canada for example.

As far as businesses acting within rights their freedoms to choose go and using public servents or those under Hippocratic oaths as a model of comparison, there is none.

It seems more and more in this country the minority rule...with a strangulation hold on the rest.

True, there is no good place in this country for hate.  But tolerance and rights should not be confused.  I too am often ashamed of my country, although I love and appreciate it and the freedoms I can still enjoy.  I truly believe America was blessed with the freedoms and beauty by our God whom it was founded upon.  I also believe wickedness is and is moreso going to destroy those blessings.

I had a good time last night catching up with Rod Jones and Susan Kelson.  It was refreshing to recall how much Rod and I had in common in high school and it was fun to relive childhood memories with Susan.  So refreshing to shed the inhibitions and agendas and just relax and laugh out loud.

Thank you two for a great time.

Geritol is still around and even getting pretty good ratings on Amazon - 4.6 out of 5 stars. I've never even tried the stuff.

As for Lawrence Welk, I always thought he was the ultimate in tame and boring. My parents had a permanent date with Welk whenever his show was on they were there in front of the TV. They also like the Ed Sullivan song and if I heard someone cool was going to be on I insisted on watching them. But Mom and Dad would always be complaining or rolling their eyes behind me. Janis Joplin especially bothered them.

Remember this incident - Let's Spend Some Time together? The famous eye roll is at 1:17 on the video - I couldn't find the whole performance.

Americans are so damn immature. You have pee stalls all over in Denmark and you can see people in the stalls from the Knees down and the shoulders up. Makes it nice if you want to smoke your weed and watch people and pee at the same time, provided you remembered which hand was holding what.
