I'm curious about something.  We read about bulling in schools today.  Does anyone here remember being bullied in high school high school?

Not so much. The only bullying incident I remember actually happened at church. I was wearing a navy blue skirt. A certain girl who I would not call a friend was with a few other girls in a classroom. We were leaving and she picked up an eraser from the chalkboard and smacked it all over my rear end. She laughed about it. That was as bad as it got for me.

Ken, I don't remember any bullying through any school from Elementary on.  I don't know why it is so prevalent in today's society.  Is it a change in our youth?  Or does the media bring more attention to it?

I see the games my grandchilldren play on their Ipads, which some are pretty violent.  Makes me wonder about the effect that has on them.

And I think it has to do with their home environment as well.  I"m going out on a limb with this one, I know.  But there is a much different home environment in Utah than there is here in California.  California is a beautiful State, but home to so many unique Social Norms.  I would leave California in an instant if I could bring my grandchildren with me.

Ken,

I was never bullied at South but I was bullied in Jr. High.

The way the junior high school boundaries were drawn at the time the boundary between Highland High and South went through our Jr Hi so most of the kids went on to Highland and those special few of us went to South.  (Pres Miller, Brent Broadhed, and Bart Croxford etc. were on that special list.) Because of that, all of the bullies went to Highland and I have never seen any of them ever since.  In all of this time, I have not missed them.

I am pretty sure we had bullies at South but I did not see it.  Maybe I was not paying attention enough.

Thanks Randall, Darlene, any everyone that answered my question.  In junior high school there were always fights.  Not so much bullying as pecking order, for me.  In high school, I never remember even witnessing someone being bullied.  I'm glad most people never experienced this.  Just a note, Darlene, when a kid commits suicide over bullying, I do not think it is the media.  Just a tragedy.

Ken, definitely a tragedy!

But I stand by my comment, if the media didn't "glamorize", there would be less bullies.

Same with school shootings.
