Jeff Chivers
Just got the notice of the passing of another one of our classmates, Doug Lincoln. I didn't know Doug well, but I remember him being in several of my classes and exchanging greetings as we passed each other in the hall. A real nice person, as I remember.
It saddens me to learn we've lost another classmate. Life clicks by one day at a time, and none of us know how long we have left. The older I get and the closer I get to that proverbial "black door" the more I realize how I must make extra effort to enjoy each day to savor each sunrise and sunset, to spend as much time as possible with family and friends; building strong bonds through new experiences and the sharing cherished memories.
In addition to our great reunions, though my work I've been fortunate of having the opportunity of getting re-acquainted with many Class of '70 classmates, many of whom I had not seen since high school. At our first meeting and the intial "jolt" of seeing them as they are now (with possibly a few added pounds, wrinkles, greying or thining hair), after a few moments my brain has a way of setting those changes aside and I see them transformed back into that person I remember in high school, with the flood of accompanying memories of days long passed.
I really appreciate this "Class of 1970" website as a forum for keeping in touch; sharing our thoughts, memories, photos, music from our era; reporting changes in our lives including the occasional sad news of the passing of one of our own. Again a big "THANKS" and kudos to Preston Miller for creating this site and his continued gift of funding to keep it going.
Hard to believe our 50th reunion is just around the corner. I hope to see as many of you as possible at that touchstone event.
"ON SOUTH HIGH!!"
