Bart, thanks for the information on Mr. Reese.  I also had him for U.S. History. Loved history but did play alot of tic-tac-toe with a classmate who should probably remain nameless.  If I remember correctly Mr. Reese's wife was also a teacher af South.

Well, Richard there seems to be two of us who would like to meet a little more often.  I was sad to miss the reunion in August.  What do others think about this.  I would agree to be on a committee.  Mabe something low key like a summer dinner pic-nic?

I missed the reunion as well and think it'd be fun to get together once a year.  Difficult, yes for those living out of the area but a park picnic, etc. could work for those of us still here.  Every five years we could do the BIG reunion thing.....

Just to let everyone know, our good friend and classmate Randy Hinerman passed away Thursday December 31 in Las Vegas, due to complications following major surgery.

For those who attended the last reunion, Randy displayed an example of a joyful demeanor and positive attitude despite his pain and weakened condition due to chemotherapy and radiation treatments he was enduring at the time.

As with all of our departed classmates, we will sorely miss Randy.  Our thoughts and prayers of comfort are extended to his family.

Randy's viewing and graveside service will be on January 8, 2016  at 2:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary located on 10600 South and 1950 East.

The news on Mr. Reese was tough for me.  At a time in my life when I wasn't sure which way to go Mr. & Mrs. Reese took a personal interest in me.  From Mr. It was more of an "In you face" challenge. I took him up on it an ended up in college.  Despite her being some years older than him I always thought she was beautiful.

Randy will likely remain with me for life.  He was one of the chosen few from Glendale who didin't care where I was from or what religion I was and chose to show me friendship.  For a ten year old at a new school full of bullies I took that very personally.

I know full well he will have fun wherever he ends up.

One of my fondest memories of Randy was in Junior High @ Glendale.  Often times we would have "dances" during gym period.  The boys and girls gym classes would meet at the door between the two gyms and you would have to dance with whomever walked through the door, at least for the first dance.  It seems that no matter who I was initially paired up with, I asked that they switch with Randy.  You see, not only was he good lookin' to me, he was taller than I and an especially good dancer for just being in Junior High, and very gracious when he ended up with me.  Wish I would have been at the reunion and talked to him about that memory, he probably didn't remember me at all, but that's OK.  Rest in Peace Randy; the world was a better place with you in it, a little worse without you and heaven's just a bit better becasue you're there.

I have to admit I didn't know Randy well. I was inspired on New Year's Day to browse through our yearbook (thank you, Chuck) and came across this quote. I don't know why it was included except that, if you didn't already notice it, the tone of the yearbook was a bit on the melancholy side. RIP Randy.

(Rember this beautiful sculpture that was part of the architecture of the Prudential (I think) building. It's no longer there and I hope they preserved it somewhere.

Randy was a gentle soul!  All the guys that meet in St George for golf were fortunate to have Randy join us for probably the last 8 to 10 years.  He was quiet but very intelligent, accomplished, funny and wise beyond his years.  For all of you who knew Randy you probably are aware of the story about the Shelby.  He was a thinker and quitely did things his way.  He was way ahead of many of us!

Seare, Dave Hendricks and I were fortunate to play with Randy at the reunion golf tournament in August and we had a ball.  We were all happy when we won the scramble but I will never forget the smile on Randy's face. He was thrilled!

Randy was a joy to play golf with and to just be around in general.  One never knew what he was going to do , say or come up with.  Excellent poker player as well.  He did not talk much about himself but I was amazed at some of the things and activities he did in his life when he allowed us to know.

Randy was very courageous and spoke freely and frankly about his cancer and his odds and that he was going to go for it with the surgery.  I hope many of you spoke to him at the reunion because he was very a very unique and special person.  He was loved and he loved!  I will think about him often and will miss seeing him and playing golf with him is St George.  We were blessed to know Randy!!

Well said Gary.  Your thoughts and remembrances of Randy I'm sure are echoed by all that were fortunate to have shared time with him these past years.

I just received a call from Randy's sister, who informed me that (as previously announced) Randy's graveside service is scheduled for 2:00pm Friday January 8 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E Dimple Dell Rd (106th South).  She also asked that I pass the word among Randy's friends that an informal "celebration of life" service for Randy will be held at the same location from 12:30-1:45pm, where friends and family that are so inclined are invited to share remembrances of Randy.

Also, Randy's obituary is in today's Salt Lake Tribune newspaper and their online edition, where the link is:

Thinking of Randy all day long and he is in my thoughts and prayers on this evening of the day of his memorial,  Randy and I hooked up for a moment in time after we connected at the 15th year reunion for about a year.

He was passionate about his business in heating and air conditioning, truly committed to providing the highest level of customer service and he loved his adventures.  Golf was his recreation along with boating and biking.  I loved his spirit!  He was very nurturing and tender. Full of romantic surprises! But my move to CA made our time together even more complicated.

I can reveal this now, Randy.  I know you would rather be known for your ruggedness. Randy you were so strong and sensitive at the same time.  I will always have a piece of you in my heart.  May you rest in peace now and forever.  Thank you always for our precious moment of memories!  Xoxoxoxo!

I wanted to share the next chapter in my son's political career.  Seems there is much more hoopla over this appointment than his opponent for city council received winning the election.
Oh well, this stupid nasty business called politics.
Either way folks I'm floored by the love and well wishes my son is receiving.  The greatest compliment you can pay a man is to compliment his progeny.
