To reply Charlotte;  About five years ago I took clinets from Idaho out for dinner & drinks.  I hadn't realized that Sandy Station had changed to a completely different bar but the music was great.  As I danced with the older sister a young lady approached us and said, "it's so great to see the old people dancing."  We both stopped and looked around for old people.

Gary,

My sincere condolences.  I can relate very well as my mother just passed on March 19th.  She was 3 days shy of her 94th birthday.  She had had a rather severe stroke so being released from those effects was a blessing for her.  It was also a blessing for me as we had her here at my home for the last few days of her life.  I had to watch her go through those trials.

Best wishes,

Randall M. Petersen

You fellows have my sympathy on the loss of your Mothers Gary and Randall.  I envy you that you got to keep her this late in your life.  While they both deserve their rest I know it still hurts.  God Bless.

For those of you who remember Richard Green, he passed away a couple of days ago.  For some reason, he closed his profile on here a couple of years back. His wife was killed in a car accident a couple of years ago, as they were moving to St George.

I have kept in contact with him, and he has been very I'll, from his years of service in the SL Crime Lab, when things were not know to be as dangerous (meth houses, etc.), but passed away quite unexpectedly 8/13.  I have yet to see an obituary posted.

Rest in peace, Rick, and have a wonderful, eternal reunion with your sweet Janie!

Candida,

Yes, I remember Richard Green.  Not only is he a Cub, but you will most likely also remember him from our Forest Elementary group.

I had a couple of experiences with him while he was working for the crime lab.  I had the misfortune to be burgled a few times.  Two of those times the investigating officer called for the crime lab to come take pictures, try to lift some fingerprints, etc and Richard was the tech that came.  The first time we spent some time talking about "do you remember this and that" and "I saw so and so the other day, you'll never guess what he is doing now".  We had to explain to the police officer that we had known each other since grade school.  Second time he came I said to him that we need to stop meeting like this.

I went to the visitation/viewing for his wife as I couldn't stay for the funeral.  He was terribly distraught at the time. That really hit him hard.  Maybe it is good that they are back together.

Janis Ian posted this on Facebook the other day. Someone took the time to remove all the accompianment and made a her voice only. It's rather haunting this way.

Yes, Randall.  He really has continued to have a tough time.  The circumstances didn't help much either...as he has always felt at fault.

I remember him well through all of our school years, partially since he lived just a couple of streets away, and we had good common friends.  He was so shy in elementary school, and pretty quiet always, really.

His daughters have taken pretty good care of him , staying with him lots in St George, since he had already sold their house in West Valley and bought the condo in St George planning on it being for both of them.

I was a Jane's funeral as well, and his kept in touch with him often since then.

Here is his obituary: https://www.metcalfmortuary.com/obituary/richard-green?lud=4B4ED1609C04B15CE25424B6CC6429B7&fbclid=IwAR0iKiVKdT8QYaNI8b0QICSRiOv3EvfLJh2lzjxSTQDYaqyHPsttQOZO7S0

It's always a tough wake-up call when we lose a classmate.

I didn't have a direct relationship with Richard, but reading other comments and his obituary it appears he had a rewarding, yet challenging life.

I'm ashamed to say many of our classmates were mere faces I passed in the hall - if, regrettably, I even bothered to look at their faces. Life and the passage of time teaches hard lessons, especially the importance of relationships; lessons I wish I'd learned much earlier.

Rest in peace Richard, as well as others of our classmates who have passed on.

We're all on that same path.

Looking forward future associations, and hopefully seeing you all at our "belated" 50th reunion next year . . .

I too didn't know Richard well from school but I do carry a heavy heart for the police and the work, especially the drug house raids and investigaitons that left so many with the cancer.  We have a number of cops in the family and all are beautiful people.

Despite my activism folks I still tend to stand with the cops in many situations.  Thank you Richard for your service.  Rest in peace.  I guess you're right Jeff, none of us are exempt.

If I may change the pace:  I found this on Linkedin.

I don't know why this didn't receive more publicity, but this fifty-foot sculpture was unveiled in South Dakota. It's called 'Dignity' & was done by artist Dale Lamphere to honor the women of the Sioux Nation. Source: @Jim Gath

I notice there is only a stairway to heaven but a highway to hell.

I wonder if that is because of the anticipated traffic volumes.
